Rarely do
people know that they can do composting even in a
limited space. We have been used to the idea that it
can only be done when we have a backyard or when we
have a wide garden lawn. This is why counter-top
composting bin came to existence. For
those whose space can no longer
accommodate big containers, then this would be
perfect.
It can be very useful. Why? First, you no longer have to go
out when you have to throw off your scraps. Second, it
won't be hard for you to segregate your wastes because it's
just within your reach and third, you can make a good
fertilizer out of your scraps.
Counter-top composting bin comes in many design and prices.
If you want to buy one, just search the net and everything
will be presented. Usually, this type of bin is odor free.
Of course we expect that once we throw the fruit peelings
and other organic materials there, an awful odor will
eventually come. However, manufacturers see to it that this
wouldn't happen. Another characteristic that you should
look for is dishwasher free. This would be important for
easy cleaning. Some of the most popular commercial bins
include bamboo compost pail, stainless steel compost pail,
Max Air Kitchen Compost Bucket Starter Kit, white stoneware
compost pail and more. These also come in different sizes.
Mostly, counter-top composting bins are those that can hold
at least 1-3 gallons of wastes.
Now if you say that you don't have budget for this that
would be fine. Your old but clean plastic containers are
okay. Your coffee canister or anything that is fitted in
your counter will be good. Just, make sure that the
container that you'll use has a lid to keep flies and
insects from coming. You may also give a touch of
sophistication to your home made counter-top composting bin
by painting it but be careful not to touch the filter.
Whatever your choice (commercial or homemade) will be, what
matters is that you know that you can do composting even in
a limited space.
